NAPA Opens this weekend!


In an election year or better yet in an election moment all the ills of the National Academy for the Performing Arts will be laid to rest. The government is out to show the naysayers that the magnificence of the structure is a story yet to be told. Here is the article that was published in the Trinidad Express Newspapers giving details for the opening performances:

"THE CULTURE Division of the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs will present the first ever NAPA Fest at the Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) in Port of Spain starting tomorrow and Sunday.
These shows. entitled: “Music Festival Highlights - Champion Choirs”, are concerts showcasing Championship winners in the open classes in addition to selected outstanding performances throughout the 29th Biennial festival.

Performance times are 7.30 pm tomorrow and 6.30 pm on Sunday. The running time for primetime shows will be two hours, 30 minutes, with a 15-minute intermission.

Admission will be Adults: $75 and children (ages 12 and under) $40 per concert. For season tickets (any three concerts), patrons pay $200. Tickets are available at the NAPA Box Office, located at the National Academy for the Performing Arts, Keate Street, Port of Spain.
Box Office Opening Hours: Mon - Fri. 12:00 noon - 6:00 pm and on the day of each show (Weekend) - 11:00 am - 8:00 pm. Please contact the Queen's Hall Operator at 624-1284 for further details.
The NAPA Festival is intended to put the performing arts at the helm of the nation's identity. It is a celebration of youth, the recognition of masters and the display of our musical excellence at the premier performing arts facility, which is positioned as a leader in the development of artistic excellence."
